History and revolution
- Oaxaca City: Major city of the region, Oaxaca is a large colonial town that makes the pride of its inhabitants with its numerous markets and its houses with warm colours. Fruit markets, leather articles market, traditional art market…There is a market for everyone.
- Monte Alban: Minutes away from Oaxaca city, the site of Monte Alban is a real delight for the eye. Located at 2000 metres high, this ancient Zapotec capital keeps all its splendour, even if the vivid colours that used to cover all the pyramids disappeared with the time. Note that this is one of the only sites where you will see the use of round structures in the construction.
- Petrified cascades: In the heart of Oaxaca Mountains, this site will take your breath away. Years ago, water used to fall here. Today, you can only see these surprising long white marks made by the limestone over the years. Only a few water spots remain where you can swim, enjoying an incredible view. Note that the access road is made of dust and rocks…but it is worth the ride.

Nature and tradition
- Tule : Small village of the region, Tule is mostly known to host a millenium tree. Depending on the guides, you will see that the age of this tree and its hierarchy among the oldest trees in the world varies. Still, it is an impressive 55 meters wide tree that is worth the stop.
- Mitla: Archaeological site close to Oaxaca City, Mitla is an ancient pre Colombian city that survived internal wars and the invasion of Mexico. Today, Mitla is a great memory of today’s disappeared Zapotec culture with a very peculiar architecture.
